Being Where My Feet Are

I realized something last night. As I was pulling yet another all nighter, wishing away these college late nights, I realized just how fleeting everything is. It's already November of my freshman year of college, and we are approaching the end of the semester. It was nearing 4 in the morning, and I was walking towards the white board room in the library to continue identifying muscles and bones for my lab practical the next day. In that moment, an anatomy grade was stressing me out, but hours before I was stressing out about psychology. I gathered my thoughts for a moment and tried to understand why I was always so worked up? Yes, grades are extremely important, but I found myself wishing away days, weeks, even months, thinking that if I can just get to a certain point, I can start enjoying my life.
But the Lord gently reminded me of something in between groggy thoughts. In this moment, I am worried about nursing school. Exams, grades, assignments...those are the things weighing heavy on my mind these days. But sooner than I think, the stresses of college life will be replaced by the stress of a marriage, and lost sleep will come from a crying baby, not a lab exam. Why do we always think that there is a certain day in the near future when life will suddenly get easier? Why do we think that by wishing away these days, these moments, it will make the future come quicker? When did life get so fast paced?
I really believe Jesus is teaching me about patience right now. He is showing me what it feels like to be in over my head, yet stupidly in love with Him.
These days, sleep is rare, and late nights are my new norm. But I will enjoy this season. I will enjoy being a college student for what it is, and most importantly, I will enjoy being His child. I will sit at His feet and wait patiently for what He wants to teach me.

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
A time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silence and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace...

....He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
-Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 & 11
